20 for 20 Alumni profiles - Kevin Simoes Loureiro
In this week’s 20 for 20 series let us introduce you to Kevin Simoes Loureiro, a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). Kevin did his Master's in Social and Educational Sciences and PhD in Social Sciences on the Belval Campus. Currently, he is also part of the professional development team on the plurilingual education programme at the Service National de la Jeunesse.
What was your favourite class at Uni.lu?
Educational Policies, Education Systems and Inequalities.
Which professor you will never forget and why?
Andreas Hadjar and Justin Powell, because they believed in me and have been unwavering in their support since the day I embarked on my master's journey. Their encouragement has been instrumental in shaping my decision to pursue an academic career and undertake a PhD. In fact, I am currently working with them on a new project as a postdoc in Switzerland.
Your favourite bar or club in Luxembourg while you were a student?
Coppers.
What was the most memorable thing that happened to you during your student times?
I met one of my current best friends by distributing chocolate as an incentive to study at the University and he kept coming back to get some chocolate but turned out to have never filled out the online questionnaire.
What was the most important world event that happened while you were a student?
Covid and war in Ukraine.
